If you are interested in pursuing a career as a cardiovascular technician or technologist then you should have an eye for detail, be reliable, and have the right personality for relaxing patients who may well be anxious. Training and QualificationsTraining for a post as an EKG cardiovascular technician can be achieved by successful completion of a one-year certificate program. If your program includes Holter monitoring and stress testing it will improve your job prospects. The usual route to gaining a qualification as a cardiovascular technologist is to earn an associate degree in cardiovascular technology, electrocardiograph technology, or cardiopulmonary technology. Program content will vary, but you should expect to study courses on invasive and non-invasive testing of the heart and circulation system, and the administration of treatment under the supervision of a physician. Other courses will cover equipment maintenance and preparation, patient preparation, and keeping records. Job OutlookMost cardiovascular technology posts are to be found in hospitals and clinics.
